For ESPN’s US Open experts, the competition isn’t only on the court

It's France's third final in four years, while Croatia is in it's second in three years. Spain was without world No. Karen Khachanov Khachanov appeared to be heading for a sophomore slump at the start of , but he has found his rhythm on grass. Dominic Thiem His loss to world No. Milos Raonic In his last match, the Canadian lost in straight sets to then-No. Dominic Thiem Who knows how much effort Thiem put into his last match, a , loss to Ramanathan in Turkey?

Four thoughts on the Davis Cup semifinals, and a big question for Noah, Paire, Tiafoe and Coric had big weekends, as Croatia and France reached the final. There— I feel so much better now…. Besides that, myself and many others quit watching when there is yelling, squealing like pigs and groaning like injured cows.

I watch golf instead where the game has been left without bleating with every shot. The association really needs to do something about it. Ditto about the French Open!! I already pay huge cable TV bills and am not willing to pay for the tennis channel. LIke everyone else, I was extremely disappointed with coverage of the French Open. Limited coverage on NBC.

It was a bad decision on your part. One of the most important tournaments of the year!!! Second, where was ESPN? Tennis Channel was awful, awful. Welcome back ESPN, stay around for tennis all year.

Where were you during the French open? Tennis channel alone was horrible, with a speck of nbc. No Brad, Chrissy Darren, Pat etc. Wow you missed an opportunity. I wonder if their sports director has a brain. There are legions of us fans who look forward to the French every year. Chrissy can go down the well too.

We watch whatever the MacEnroes and Brad are not commentating on. We watch whatever is left. The second string commentators do a good job. Courier also leaves his ego at home. The quality of the tennis played just gets better every year. Get rid of Drysdale. I have to agree with Tom Potter. The other gripe I have is with the font size used to display the scores on TV. These things are no brainers and you wonder if they ever review or edit this stuff. The announcers need to remember to call the action, the shots, the set-up, the points won.

Coverage is generally pretty good but announcers talk WAY too much. Much better to just let the action speak for itself and only comment on an unusual or important point. The thing is, tennis commentary is not much different than football, baseball, etc.. Of course you can always turn down the volume but I think it would be boring. I agree about the talking. Sometimes I put them on mute, but I like to hear the ball bounce. NBC should carry the Wimbledon tennis matches and Championships. We are avid tennis fans but cannot afford the expensive cable packages.

Just cut out all the commentary cut out that horrible music during cap-ups I love how ESPN does everything else. Your email address will not be published. Home Wimbledon TV Schedule. Plus, Raonic recently parted ways with his coach, Richard Krajicek. It all spells early exit. Barely six months after suffering a stab wound to her playing hand in a home invasion, Petra Kvitova wins Wimbledon for the third time. Jelena Ostapenko will not fizzle out in the first round, but rather, make a run deep into the second week, silencing the doubters and the haters and the naysayers.

I wrote about IBM's AI-powered highlights here , but I'm actually interested to see what the system chooses and how it will work, especially in the hectic first days of the tournament. Those are always fun. He comes in with very little mileage on his odometer. Novak Djokovic hasn't been near his best over the last 12 months. The names are slow in coming. Can you bet against Roger Federer?

Of course you can, but I'm not taking my chances. Federer on July 16th: A record eighth Wimbledon title, Grand Slam No. Yes, because karma loves tennis as much as tennis loves karma. Karolina Pliskova will win her first Grand Slam title at Wimbledon Venus Williams has been knocking on the door of winning her first Grand Slam event since —she made the semis here last year and the final of the Australian Open in January.

The field is wide open, and it feels like almost anyone could take home the title. If she serves well and stays healthy, why not Venus?
